How does the FirstShake program actually work, step by step?
First, the framing: FirstShake is the platform we use to run this program — the team reviewing your application and content is REYR, and your cashback is paid out as a refund from REYR to your original payment method. Now the flow: head to our FirstShake page and you’ll see every active challenge before you commit, each one’s brief, deliverables, and exact cashback %. When you’re ready, you order a First Cast rod through FirstShake; that order doubles as your creator application, usually with a 10% upfront discount at checkout. We review and approve, then release the order for fulfillment. (If we don’t approve, your order is cancelled and refunded immediately.) Once your rod arrives, knock out the challenges you signed up for and submit through FirstShake. We review each one and release the cashback as a refund to your original payment. Stack them all and you can earn up to 100% of what you paid back.
Can I sign up for FirstShake AND the Creators Network at the same time?
Yes — we recommend it, and most of our creators do. FirstShake gets a rod in your hands and earns you the gear back through challenges. The Creators Network (Shopify Collabs) adds ongoing commission on every sale your audience drives. They don’t overlap and there’s no double-pay — just two complementary ways to earn from the same partnership with REYR.
What happens if my creator application isn’t approved?
If we don’t approve your application, your order is cancelled and refunded immediately — in full, no questions, no fees. You only pay when we approve and ship. Zero risk on your end.
What if I don’t want to do every challenge?
Totally fine. Each challenge is optional and stands on its own. Do one, get that challenge’s cashback. Do two, get both. Skip the rest. The 100% ceiling is the max if you complete every challenge — you’re never required to.
Is there a follower minimum?
No hard follower minimum on the FirstShake program — the application is your order, and the REYR team reviews the content you produce on its own merits. The Creators Network is manually reviewed by the REYR team too; anglers, guides, and outdoor/travel creators get priority regardless of size.
How much does it cost to join either program?
Zero in fees, on either side. The only “cost” is the rod itself when you join through FirstShake — which is exactly what the cashback challenges are designed to earn back. The Creators Network costs nothing to be in.
When and how do I get paid for each program?
For the FirstShake program: each approved submission releases that challenge’s cashback as a refund from REYR to your original payment method — processed through the FirstShake platform, per-challenge, as you submit. Review averages around 24 hours. The Creators Network pays out on Shopify Collabs’ standard schedule, typically NET-30 after a sale clears the return window.
What’s the upfront discount on FirstShake?
Currently 10% off the rod, applied automatically when you order through our FirstShake page. We adjust this from time to time; whatever is shown at checkout is what you’ll get.
I’m not a fly fishing creator. Should I apply?
If you have audience overlap with outdoors, travel, hiking, backpacking, or “made for the bag” gear — yes, definitely. The First Cast rod genuinely lives in a backpack, so we work with creators well outside the traditional fly-fishing lane.
