The new line does seem to be better, however the reel provided with the rod is non-functional. Line provided does not fit so I have had to put a new reel on the rod to truly make the rod work properly.

Much Improved - The new line is awesome. Slides through the rod and feeds with ease. I have a light weight #4 9ft and the new line is quite noticeably better than the original three color my rod came with
